Rita has lived in Barnes with her husband Adrian for 22 years. They have four daughters. She is a proud grandmother to 7 grandchildren. Before she retired in 2014 she worked in London prisons as a Forensic Therapist for 15 years.
First elected in a by-election in 2007 Rita served as Mayor for the Borough in 2012/13. Now, as Vice-Chairman of Regulatory Committee she also sits on the Rita also has appointments to three outside bodies, namely Richmond Church Land Parishes, Bailey & Bates Trust, Barnes Relief in Need Fund and Richmond in Bloom.
Having operated her own business in the past, Rita has a keen interest in supporting the local traders in Castelnau. She also works closely with residents on the Castelnau estate to assist in on-going plans to ‘uplift’ the area; she has enjoyed being a co-opted member for over 10 years of the local theatre group BYT which operates out of the Castelnau Community Centre.
As a Governor of Lowther Primary School in Barnes Rita has enjoyed assisting and seeing the school develop over the past 12 years.
Rita’s interests are classical music, opera, theatre, travel, community events and local history; she is also an avid collector of eye-baths!
