This is an opportunity to work as first point of contact in a busy and supportive Association office, staffed by the Agent and constituency team working for Zac Goldsmith MP. This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual who thrives on a wide range of challenges. These include day to day office management and call handling, as well as aspects of membership engagement and administration, communications, social media, event management, financial record keeping and compliance.
In addition, the successful candidate will also assist with the development of our local campaigns across Richmond Park and North Kingston and with supporting our MP, Zac Goldsmith. Political and campaigning priorities can change quickly, so you should not see this as a normal 9-5 role. You will be prepared to provide hands-on-sleeves-rolled up support and go above and beyond to get the job done.
CORE DUTIES
- Acting as the primary interface with Association members and the public
- Day to day running and management of the office environment
- Supporting the Agent with the recruitment and management of volunteers and interns to help in the office and the campaign team
- Acting as Secretary to the Executive Council, the governing body of the Association, preparing agendas, reports and taking minutes at meetings
- Liaising with the CCHQ Membership Team, ensuring accurate maintenance of Association membership lists and assisting with routine queries
- Preparing regular communications to keep members and activists informed, including the composition of e-newsletter and event emails
- Assisting the Agent with the maintenance of the website and social media
- Assisting with the co-ordination of Association events and fundraising
- Basic financial record-keeping and liaison with the Association Treasurer
- Providing Donation reports to the Agent in compliance with the latest rules
- Co-ordinating a programme of activities focussed on young members/activists
- Liaising with MP’s staff and the Richmond and Kingston Conservative Groups
- Supporting the Agent and office team in the development of an on-going campaign programme of activities, literature and material to support and promote the Constituency MP and local Council Groups
- Assisting with planning and delivering successful and high profile campaigning events and political meetings, including Action Days and Election Day operations
This is a hugely varied role but training and support will be provided, with continual opportunities to develop your skills.
COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proactive, resourceful and responsive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of numeracy and accuracy with figures
- Outstanding organisational ability
- High level of diligence and attention to detail
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Able to work under pressure and handle competing priorities as part of busy election campaigns
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office be highly advantageous
- Knowledge and/or experience of email marketing, event management and financial accounting software would be helpful but not essential
- Familiarity with VoteSource, the Conservative Party’s membership and campaign software, would again be helpful but not essential
